Rural R&D for sufficiency economy

NANOTEC organized a field trip to Rayong province to observe the rural research development program run by Mr. Somsak Kruewan, retired village headman for Klaeng district in Rayong on August 29-30. The research development project which is implemented on his own land is based on H.M the King’s teaching of “Sufficiency Economy”. According to Somsak, his land is his refrigerator and everything grown or raised can be use as raw materials for producing a meal and surplus can be sold for income. The technology used is from experience through trial and error.

The aim of the visit is for NANOTEC researchers to appreciate the simple and logical ways of implmenting rural R&D thinking of sufficiency and at the same time helps to inspires young researchers to understand their role.

The researchers also had an opportunity to work in make believe rural community groups to discuss and decide on a specific project concept. Awards were given to the best rural R&D concept project.
