The MOU signing between National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) and National Synchrotron Research Center to establish Joint Research Unit to develop new synchrotron beam line for nanotechnology

On 22 May 2009 at Ministry of Science& Technology, Professor Sirirurg Songsivilai - Executive Director of NANOTEC, Professor Prasart Suebka – President of Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), and Dr. Weerapong Pairsuwan, Director of National Synchrotron Research Center signed an MOU to establish a joint research unit to develop new synchrotron beam line for nanotechnology.

This tri-lateral collaboration will strengthen Thailand’s capability on synchrotron

This collaboration will be for the period of 5 years. The first 3 years (first phase) will concentrate on establishing research infrastructure on nanotechnology/synchrotron beam line and on developing human resources. For infrastructure, the “SUT-NANOTEC Synchrotron Beamline Unit” will be constructed at SUT, Nakornrachasima Province. The facilities in this co-joint research unit will allow NANOTEC’s and university researchers to analyze nano-structure by applying synchrotron light and help young researchers to develop research and analytic skills for new knowledge discovery. The analysis is focused on research and development of nano-structure of new nano-material that are of high value for Thai industries and academic community.
