I believe it&#8217;s for regulators and the industry to be transparent and to work together to explain to people what nanotechnology is and how it can be used in food.&#8221; The study found that acceptance around nanotechnology was conditional, with consumers more positive about the use of the emerging science to reduce salt or fat content of foods, but less accepting of its use for what they perceived as &#8220;trivial&#8221; purposes, such as to develop new flavors or textures. Survey participants wanted transparency in the use of nanotechnology in foods, such as a register of foods containing nanotechnology or some sort of labeling.
