The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has released a new publication, ISO\/TR 13121:2011, which describes a process for \u201cfor identifying, evaluating, addressing, making decisions about, and communicating the potential risks of developing and using manufactured nanomaterials, in order to protect the health and safety of the public, consumers, workers and the environment.\u201d\u00a0 The publication also offers guidance about making sound risk evaluations and risk management decisions, and information on how to manage in the face of incomplete or uncertain information.\u00a0 Methods to update assumptions, decisions and practices as new information becomes available are also included.\u00a0 Additionally, the document suggests methods organizations can use to be transparent and accountable in how they manage nanomaterials.<\/p>\n
