NANOTEC, Thailand, represented by Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, Executive Director, \u00a0participated in the 26th Meeting of the Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (WPMN), held at OECD Headquarters in Paris, France, on 25\u201326 June 2026.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

On 25 June,<\/strong> the meeting commenced with the approval of the draft summary record of WPMN-25, followed by an overview from the OECD Secretariat of the resources supporting the work of the Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (WPMN). During the Tour de Table session, Dr. Uracha presented Thailand\u2019s nanosafety activities, including updates on the national nanotechnology roadmap, to the meeting participants. The meeting then received a report from the Steering Group on Safe(r) and Sustainable Innovation Approaches (SSIA), which covered the development of guidance on nanomaterial release, consumer exposure, test guidelines, and guidance documents for nanomaterials and advanced materials. The Secretariat also announced the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the OECD WPMN under the theme \u201cReflecting on Progress and Shaping the Future\u201d. <\/em>The session highlighted key milestones achieved over the past two decades, including advancements in test guidelines, hazard assessment, exposure assessment, and risk assessment. Participants also shared experiences on how the WPMN has contributed to policy development and supported participating countries in strengthening their approaches to the assessment and management of nanomaterials. Future priorities were also discussed, with an emphasis on supporting science-based and forward-looking policies that foster innovation while ensuring the protection of human health and the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

On 26 June,<\/strong> discussions focused on the progress review and proposed way forward for nano- and microplastics, followed by updates from the Steering Group on Advanced Materials. NANOTEC Thailand continues to contribute actively to this work. The meeting also reviewed progress on the Early4AdMa system, including discussions on refining the next steps for its development and consideration of recommendations arising from the workshop held on 23 June. Final session of the meeting addressed the agreements and action items arising from WPMN-26, including matters discussed during the \u00a0\u00a0sessions. <\/span><\/p>\n

Thailand contributed updates on national nanosafety activities and provided comments on guidelines and guidance documents related to the safe and sustainable development of nanomaterials and advanced materials. Participation in this meeting helped strengthen Thailand\u2019s engagement in international nanosafety initiatives and enhanced the visibility of the country\u2019s nanosafety activities at the global level.<\/span><\/p>\n
