The National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the Nanotechnology Association of Thailand, with support from the Council of Scientific and Technological Associations of Thailand (COSTAT), organized a seminar entitled \u201cFrom Herbal Extracts to Innovative Products through Nanotechnology.\u201d The seminar aimed to disseminate knowledge and approaches for applying nanotechnology to enhance the value of herbal extracts, facilitate their further development into innovative products, and create opportunities for translating research outcomes into commercial applications in response to future market demands. The official English name of COSTAT is confirmed by the organization itself.<\/span><\/div>\n

The seminar was held on 23 September 2026 at the Research Building, 1st Floor, NSTDA (Yothi), Bangkok. Associate Professor Dr. Surin Laosuksathit, President of the Nanotechnology Association of Thailand, delivered the opening remarks. The event was also attended by Major General Associate Professor Dr. Chainarong Chetchu, President of the Nuclear Society of Thailand, together with researchers from NANOTEC, who shared knowledge and experience in the application of nanotechnology. The Nanotechnology Association of Thailand identifies itself in English as the \u201cNanotechnology Association of Thailand.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

The seminar featured a presentation entitled \u201cNanoencapsulation of Herbal Extracts for Cosmetic Product Development\u201d by Dr. Duangporn Pholpanich, Researcher, Nanocosmeceuticals and Beauty Nutrition Research Team, Nanoencapsulation and Biodelivery Systems Research Group, NANOTEC, NSTDA. The presentation highlighted approaches to applying nanoscale technologies to enhance the performance of herbal extracts and facilitate their further development into cosmetic products.<\/span><\/div>\n

Another presentation, entitled \u201cNanoencapsulation of Herbal Extracts for the Development of Health Products for Companion Animals and Livestock,\u201d was delivered by Dr. Paweena Dana, Medical and Veterinary Nanotechnology Research Team, Nanoencapsulation and Biodelivery Systems Research Group, NANOTEC, NSTDA. The presentation addressed the application of nanotechnology to herbal extracts as a means of supporting the development of health-related products for companion animals and livestock.<\/span><\/div>\n

In addition, Dr. Weeruree Thongkham, Senior Technical Officer and Acting Manager of the Public Awareness and Outreach Unit, NANOTEC, delivered a presentation entitled \u201cIndustrial Product Standards for Nanoencapsulated Herbal Extracts and the NanoQ Encapsulation Label.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

The session provided information and understanding of relevant product standards and certification associated with nano-formulated herbal extract products. NANOTEC’s official website has also identified Dr. Weeruree Thongkham as an experienced senior technical officer involved in NANOTEC’s public awareness and nanosafety activities.<\/span><\/div>\n
The seminar provided a platform for knowledge exchange among researchers, entrepreneurs, and product developers, while showcasing the potential of nanotechnology to enhance the value of herbal extracts\u2014from the encapsulation and delivery of active compounds to the development of health and beauty products and the consideration of relevant standards. The initiative aimed to support the translation of research knowledge and outcomes into tangible products and practical applications in the industrial sector.<\/span><\/div>\n

The seminar formed part of the collaborative efforts between the Nanotechnology Association of Thailand and NANOTEC, NSTDA, to promote knowledge dissemination in nanotechnology and strengthen linkages between research, product development, and industry.
