{"id":3975,"date":"2012-09-19T18:05:06","date_gmt":"2012-09-19T11:05:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nano2.toolsmkt.com\/?p=3975"},"modified":"2012-09-19T18:05:06","modified_gmt":"2012-09-19T11:05:06","slug":"nano-talk-xps-and-other-photoemission-techniquesapplication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nanotec.or.th\/en\/nano-talk-xps-and-other-photoemission-techniquesapplication\/","title":{"rendered":"NANO Talk: \u201cXPS and other photoemission techniques\/application\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Worawat Meevasana and Dr. Narong Chanlek from Suranaree University of Technology recently gave a talk on the \u201cXPS and other photoemission techniques\/application\u201d at a NANO Talk session at NANOTEC.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The talk focused on the history and basic principle of XPS, examples of XPS spectra and their information, and aspects of instrumentation and proper measurement.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cX-ray photoelectron (or photoemission) spectroscopy (XPS) is one of classic techniques, yet still quite powerful for analysis of chemical\/ elemental composition\u201d said Dr. Worawat. \u201cIn the past few decades, many techniques based on XPS are developed for research applications including analysis of chemical reaction and fast dynamic (e.g. picosec to femtosec regime), element-resolved microscopy\/spectroscopy, and detailed electronic structure of materials (e.g. momentum-resolved with high energy resolution); hence, photoemission techniques have been ones of desired tools for many frontier research nowadays\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Dr. Narong talk was on \u201cBeamline 3.2a: Photoemission Electron Spectroscopy\u201d. His talk focused on basic principle and experiment, Beamline 3.2a, applications, and how researchers can apply to use the beamline. Dr. Narong encourages researchers to submit technical proposal to use Beamline 3.2a as he sees it as a developmental tool to expanding research knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0NANO Talk is a monthly public forum organized by NANOTEC for researchers and visiting professors to exchange knowledge and be updated on technology trends.
