{"id":4115,"date":"2012-10-20T08:38:23","date_gmt":"2012-10-20T01:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nano2.toolsmkt.com\/?p=4115"},"modified":"2012-10-20T08:38:23","modified_gmt":"2012-10-20T01:38:23","slug":"royal-commissioning-of-beamline-5-xas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nanotec.or.th\/en\/royal-commissioning-of-beamline-5-xas\/","title":{"rendered":"Royal Commissioning of Beamline 5 (XAS)"},"content":{"rendered":"<table style=\"width: 100%;\" cellpadding=\"3\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), and Synchrotron Light Research Institute (SLRI) have jointly invested in the construction of the X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) Beamline 5 <!--more-->at SLRI in Korat province which is 250 km north-east of Bangkok. HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided at the Royal Commissioning of Beamline 5 this afternoon at SLRI.<\/p>\n<p>The use of Beamline 5 (XAS) will focus on research related to chemical and structural analysis for example, one of NANOTEC research activity that will utilize XAS will be in the area of absorption analysis of NanoCatalysts for Biorefinery. Biorefinary has potential to prevent global warming by decreasing greenhouse gas emission. The XAS analysis is expected to play a major role in nanoscale structure and catalytic mechanism. In addition to energy production and storage research activity, NANOTEC will use the XAS for food container and water treatment research activities.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Researchers from the 3 agencies will be allocated time slots for use of the beamline.
