Neuromorphic computing tackles full circuits

Brain-inspired neuromorphic engineering has the potential to enhance the computational power of devices by orders of magnitude. However, although recent progress in nanotechnology has produced a range of increasingly advanced non-volatile memory and memristive devices for simulating artificial neural components, combining these devices into circuits is far from trivial. Now, researchers at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich have demonstrated a new circuit for tackling some of the practical issues associated with scaling up neuromorphic engineering from single devices to full-scale systems….
