Preparing biocompatible magnetic nanorods for hyperthermal cancer therapy

Researchers are busy exploring the use of nanoparticles for a range of medical applications from diagnosis to delivery and therapy. Magnetic nanoparticles, with a size of a few tens of nanometers, are frequently used to enhance magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) signals, and are highly promising for controlled and targeted applications such as drug release, cell isolation or local-hyperthermia for cancer treatment.
