“The key to promoting public awareness in nanotechnology is the ability to build a multiplying effect” said Prof Sirirurg Songsivilai, NANOTEC Executive Director during the opening session of TTN Annual Meeting (July 27-30). “The Training for the Trainer in Nanotechnology (TTN) program has been a vital network to creating public awareness in nanotechnology development especially in secondary schools. I am certain the TTN members will use this meeting session to explore ways to increasing its effectiveness, increase new trainers, maintain the TTN community, expanding the TTN network, and promote knowledge sharing among the trainers”.
Since its conception in 2008, the network of the Training for the Trainer in Nanotechnology (TTN) program have completed setting up 4 TTN groups representing 4 region of the country (North, Northeast, Central, and South). The 4 TTN group comprise of 93 member team from 70 institutions such as high schools, universities, and research institutions nationwide. A total of 350 training sessions were held for teachers and faculty members, 523 training activities were held for students, 1383 training activities for classroom teaching, and 26,650 exhibitions were organized. During the four years, NSTDA has been providing the funding and NANOTEC has been providing 2 of its staff to manage the program. 2012 will begin a new phase for the TTN members.
