Nanotubes couple up

Nanotubes couple up

September 23, 2014March 6, 2020 ramjitti Technology Update

Researchers at the University of California at Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory are the first to have observed strong inter-tube coupling in “incommensurate” double-walled carbon nanotubes. They have also shown that they can modify the electronic properties of these 1D nanomaterials though van der Waals coupling – something that was considered impossible to do in such systems until now. The new findings could help us better understand the physical properties of nanotubes so that they can be more efficiently used in electronic and optoelectronic applications…..
