NANOTEC Advances Kidney Screening Innovation and Strengthens Pharmacists’ Role in CKD Care

The National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the Pharmacy Council of Thailand, continues to strengthen Thai pharmacists’ knowledge and professional capabilities through the third “Community of Practice Pharmacist: Pharmacists’ Practical Training in CKD Medication Management” program, held on 25 October 2026 at The Heritage Grand Khon Kaen Hotel and Convention, Khon Kaen, Thailand. The program aims to equip pharmacists with essential knowledge and practical skills in chronic kidney disease (CKD) care, covering risk assessment, screening, medication management, and patient counseling to help slow the progression of kidney disease.

The training covered key aspects of CKD care, including kidney disease management, pharmacotherapy, early screening and strategies to slow disease progression. Expert-led sessions highlighted the expanding role of pharmacists in identifying risks, supporting appropriate medication use and providing guidance to patients with chronic kidney disease.
The urinary microalbumin screening innovation reflects NSTDA’s commitment to translating research and development into practical applications. Early risk screening can help identify individuals who may require further assessment and facilitate appropriate referral and follow-up care.

The program also emphasized the role of pharmacists in advising patients on medication use and healthcare practices that support kidney health and help slow CKD progression. By strengthening professional capacity and promoting the application of health innovations, NANOTEC and its partners aim to support broader access to kidney disease screening and improve healthcare delivery for communities across Thailand.
