The National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), NSTDA, and the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine (DTAM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance research, technology and innovation for Thai herbal medicines and traditional medicine formulations toward international standards and evidence-based applications.
The collaboration combines knowledge and wisdom from Thai traditional medicine with nanotechnology and advanced scientific research to improve the stability, efficacy and delivery of bioactive compounds from Thai herbs. Research will cover herbal extraction, encapsulation and delivery technologies, biological activity and mechanism-of-action studies, as well as safety and efficacy evaluation.
Under NANOTEC’s Herbal Health & Wellness research program, the collaboration will focus on selected Thai herbal medicines with high potential, including formulations targeting sleep support, allergy relief and pain relief. The partners will conduct research to establish scientific evidence covering active compounds, biological activities, safety and formulation efficacy, with the aim of developing high-quality products that can be further applied in modern healthcare.
The collaboration marks an important step in integrating Thai traditional medicine wisdom with science, technology and innovation, strengthening confidence in Thai herbal medicines and creating opportunities for their wider adoption, industrial development and international recognition.
