The National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), NSTDA, has signed a research and development collaboration agreement with Merz Aesthetics Thailand to advance nanotechnology-based innovations for the growing Wellness Economy and Longevity Economy. The collaboration aims to develop evidence-based approaches to Aesthetic Longevity and Skin Longevity, while creating opportunities to translate research and technologies into high-value health and wellness products and services.
The partnership brings together NANOTEC’s expertise in nanotechnology, bioactive compounds, molecular biology and biomarker technologies with Merz Aesthetics’ expertise in aesthetic medicine. The collaboration will focus on generating scientific evidence to better understand skin health, skin aging and the biological mechanisms associated with long-term skin health.
As part of its PhytoEX Program, NANOTEC has developed a Skin Longevity research and testing platform to investigate skin health from multiple perspectives, including skin aging hallmarks, skin resilience and recovery, Skinspan, biological age, and human validation. The platform also examines how skin responds to environmental exposures such as UV radiation, blue light and PM2.5, using advanced models and analytical technologies to monitor changes at the biological level.
The collaboration marks an important step in strengthening Thailand’s innovation ecosystem in Wellness and Longevity, connecting scientific research with clinical and industry expertise. It is expected to support the development of new knowledge, technologies, products and services in Aesthetic Longevity and Skin Longevity, while contributing to the competitiveness of Thailand’s health and aesthetic medicine industries in the global market.
