NANOTEC and SAINT/SKKU (KOREA) organized the 1st Collaborative Meeting between Thailand and Korea (virtual meeting)

On 20 May 2021, National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) in collaboration with Sungkyunkwan Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology of Sungkyunkwan University (SAINT/SKKU) (KOREA) organized the 1st Collaborative Meeting between Thailand and Korea (virtual meeting).

The objectives of the meeting are as follows:

1) To continue the collaboration on nanoscience and nanotechnology between Thailand and Korea under H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn initiative.

2) To strengthen the relationship between SKKU supervisors and SKKU Alumni in Thailand.

3) To promote research collaborations and grants opportunities.

The event comprises of 2 sessions which are the Executive Meeting and the Technical Workshop. The Executive Meeting was led by Prof. Pairash Thajchayapong, Secretary-General of the Information Technology Foundation under the Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and also Chairman of the Executive Board of NANOTEC and Prof. Ji Beom Yoo, Professor, School of Advanced Materials Science & Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University and Former Executive Vice President of SKKU. The discussion focused on the appropriate mechanism to promote Ph.D. scholarship, Post-doctoral fellowship, field of research collaboration and annual workshop.

Apart from the Executive Meeting, the Technical Workshop was organized afterward. Dr. Wannee Chinsirikul, NANOTEC Executive Director and Prof. Sungjoo Lee, Deputy Director, SAINT/SKKU participated the event and also gave the Opening Remarks. The Technical Workshop included 15 topics in 4 research areas which comprised of Nano-Energy, Nano-Bio/Medical, Quantum Information, and QLED. 5 speakers from SAINT/SKKU and 10 speakers, in which 7 of them were SKKU Alumni and 3 are NANOTEC researchers, have discussed and shared their experiences.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s vision in Science, Technology and Innovation brings about the collaboration on Nanotechnology between Thailand and Korea. Her visit to SAINT/SKKU (KOREA) in April 2013 marked a significance of the collaborations and activities that built on strong science, technology and innovation links. The success activities of this collaboration are for example, 26 International publications, 7 Postdoc Fellowships and 2 Ph.D. candidates have completed their research under supervision of SKKU supervisors.
