On 21 August 2026, the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), NSTDA, joined the panel discussion “Elevating Thai Herbs to the Global Stage: Integrating Thai Traditional Medicine Wisdom with Science, Technology and Innovation” at the 1st National Thai Massage and Wellness Expo.
The discussion explored how long-established Thai traditional medicine knowledge and herbal wisdom can move from “belief” to “confidence” through scientific evidence. Key topics included understanding the mechanisms of action of traditional medicine formulations, evaluating their efficacy and safety, and determining their suitability for different patient needs.
The panel also highlighted the role of science, technology and modern knowledge as tools to validate and strengthen traditional medicine wisdom, rather than replace it. Approaches such as studying the interactions of multiple bioactive compounds, systems biology and advanced data analysis can provide deeper insights into how traditional medicine formulations affect the body and biological processes.
Integrating traditional knowledge with science, technology and innovation can help build greater confidence among healthcare professionals, patients and consumers, while supporting the development of high-quality health products and services that meet international standards.
