NANOTEC participated at The 12th Global Summit on Regulatory Science (GSRS22), SINGAPORE

Dr. Wannee Chinsirikul, Executive Director of NANOTEC, was invited as a co-chair for Session on Nanotechnology in Agri-products and Feed at the 12th Global Summit on Regulatory Science (GSRS22). The event was co-hosted by Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and the Global Coalition for Regulatory Science Research (GCRSR) under the theme of “Advances in Nanotechnology for Food and Medical Products: Innovations, Safety and Standards” during 19-21 October 2022, Singapore.

Moreover, two representatives from NANOTEC were invited as speakers which comprise of Dr. Deanpen Japrung, Director of Responsive Material and Nanosensor Research Group and Dr. Waluree Thongkam, Senior Technical Officer, Nano-Safety Alliance Section.  Dr. Deanpen shared her experience on “Application of advanced nanomaterials and nanostructured substrates in In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) and medical devices” whereas Dr. Waluree gave a talk on “Development of National Nanotechnology standard and guidelines in Thailand” in the session of Progress in Nanotechnology Standards. This session provided information on the progress of the international standards ASTM E56 on nanotechnology and ISO/TC229, as well as the development of nanotechnology national standards in many countries.

The Global Summit on Regulatory Science (GSRS) is an international conference for discussion of innovative technologies and partnerships to enhance translation of basic science into regulatory applications within the global context. The conference provides an opportunity for scientists from government, industry, and academic-research communities to objectively assess the utility of emerging technologies (such as nanotechnology, imaging, omics for translational science, personalized medicine, medical product safety, and food safety) for addressing regulatory-research questions and to discuss the best way to translate these technologies into real-world applications. The conference provides a platform where regulators, policy makers, and bench scientists from various countries can exchange views on how to develop, apply, and implement innovative methodologies into regulatory assessments in their respective countries, as well as harmonizing strategy via global collaboration. To engage the global community to address regulatory-science research and training needs, GSRS is held in different countries on an annual basis.
