NANOTEC (THAILAND) and NTC-SHU (P.R. China) organized the 5th Green Nanomaterials Workshop (virtual meeting)

On 17 November 2021, National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), THAILAND in collaboration with Research Center of Nanoscience and Technology (NTC), Shanghai University (SHU), P.R. China organized the 5th Green Nanomaterials Workshop between NTC-SHU and NANOTEC (virtual meeting).

The objective of this workshop is to review the progress of the ongoing research collaborations and discuss the ideas of science, technology, and innovation in supporting the global issues especially in climate change, which is to zero out carbon emissions, either by reducing them or removing them through technology such as carbon capture.

NANOTEC and SHU have enjoyed a long-standing friendship with each other since 2013. Many activities of collaboration have been established in the field of Green Nanomaterials, for example, more than 20 joint international publications, people-to-people exchange program and the exchange of prototype showcase at Shanghai University Emerging Industries Institute (SHUEII) in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, P.R. China and NANOTEC, Thailand.

Focusing on people-to-people exchange program, Dr. Supawadee Namuangruk, team leader of Nanoscale Simulation Research Team, Nanocatalysis and Molecular Simulation Research Group was reappointed to be a part-time professor in 2021-2024. Assoc. Prof. Phornphimon Maitarad, associate professor, NTC-SHU who expertise on computational simulation and catalyst design, was as a visiting professor under “Graduate and Professional Development Agency of NSTDA” in 2019. In terms of granting opportunities, two NANOTEC researchers were successful in the Belt and Road Young Scientists Program (Dr. Sanchai Kuboon in 2018 and Dr. Sineenat Thaiboonrod in 2020). This program gives an opportunity to exchange their research experiences and conduct their collaborative research projects between NANOTEC and SHU researchers at SHU for 1 year with the full support from Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, P.R. China.
