Thai researchers received Micro-Nano 2011 AFM Photo Contest

The first Micro-Nano 2011 AFM Photo Contest was awarded on August 15. The award ceremony was held in conjunction with the National S&T Week. Presenting the award was Dr. Sirasak Teparkum, Deputy Executive Director, NANOTEC. Over 30 photos were received. This year the awards went to:

  • 1st Prize Award: Ms. Kullavadee Karnorachai (Mahidol University). The theme of the Photo “Buffalo”.

 

  • 2nd Prize Award: Ms. Wantana Koetniyom (King Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, KMITL). The theme of the photo “Endearing Thoughts”.

 

  • 3rd Prize Award: Prof. Dr. Somchai Thongtem (Chiangmai University). The theme of the AFM Photo “Diamond-like carbon”

 

  • 3rd Prize Award: Sudarat Yadnum (Kasetsart University). The theme of the photo “Sunset among the bamboos”

 

NANOTEC and the Nanotechnology Association of Thailand organized the contest to promoting public awareness to nanotechnology, capturing the essence of the research project, and creating a venue for researchers to network and exchange knowledge. The organizers also took the opportunity to give recognition to Bara Science Co., Ltd, LMS Instrument Co., Ltd, and JPK Instruments AG for their kind sponsorships. The sponsors also provided sample AFM photos to show at the National S&T Week.

The organizer hopes to organize the contest again in 2012 and will open it to SEM and TEM photos.
