CONGRATULATIONS to the Chulalongkorn University research team headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mongkol Sukwattanasinitt (Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science) on their receiving the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) Research Output Award 2010 for their research work on “Sensors from π – conjugated Acetylenes”. The Chulalongkorn University research team consisted of 4 researchers: 3 from Chulalongkorn (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mongkol Sukwattanasinitt, Assist. Dr. Paitoon Rashatasakorn, Dr. Sumrit Wachayasindhu) and one from NANOTEC (Dr. Gamolwan Tumcharern, Head of Nano-Molecular Sensor Lab at NANOTEC). NANOTEC is one of the funding agencies for this research project.

In addition, congratulations also go to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasert Pravasant, Chemical Engineering Department, Chulalongkorn University for his receiving the NRCT Research Output Award 2010 for his work on “Subcritical Water Extraction of Anticancer Component from Roots of Morinda citrifolia and Mathematical Modeling”, which is leaded by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Artiwan Shotipruk. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasert is also a Mentor/Advisor to the Nanomaterials for Energy and Catalysis Lab.

The NRCT Award is an annual event to recognize outstanding Thai researchers who have contributed to promoting science, technology and innovation. The NRCT Awards for 2010 consisted of Researcher Award, Research Output Award, and Doctoral Thesis Award for the Year 2010.
