About Nanotechnology

“Nanotechnology” is an applied technology that deals with the manipulation, construction, synthesis of materials or devices at the atomic level. Molecules or fragments as small as 1 to 100 nm result in materials or devices that have new functions and special properties in terms of physical, chemical and biological aspects having advantages for users and increasing economic value.

How small is… Nano level? 

Small ant is about 5 mm in size, pin head is about 1-2 mm. However, in the case of hair, the diameter is approximately 10-50 micrometers, followed by dust (about 10-20 micrometers) and red blood cells (about 6-8 micrometers). The nanometer level is even smaller, such as, the circular diameter formed by the arrangement of 48 iron atoms on copper is about 14 nm, followed by carbon nanotubes (about 2 nm), and fullerene molecules (about 1 nm), respectively.
