Plasmons excite hot carriers

Researchers at Rice University in the US are the first to have developed a complete theory of how plasmons produce “hot carriers”. The new model could help make this process more efficient, which would be good news for enhancing solar-energy conversion in photovoltaic devices, making better photocatalysts and for applications like water splitting to produce hydrogen, to name but a few……..
