Banquet to honour Outstanding & Young Scientists 2011

H.E. Prodprasob (Minister of S&T)

The Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology under the Patronage of His Majesty the King organized a dinner reception to honour the recipents of the Outstanding & Young Scientists Award 2011 on August 18 at Siam City Hotel. The Chairman of the dinner reception was H.E. Prodprasob Surasawadee, Minister of S&T.

“The status of a minister may be important but it is nothing compared to the significant of the award that is being received by these outstanding scientists” said H.E. Prodprasob. “We the government must support R&D as it is key to national economic development. The innovation generated by R&D activities helps communities and the nation compete effectively in the global market”.

The scientists received their awards from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on ­­­­August 9, 2011 at a Royal Presentation Ceremony. This year award was presented to:

2011 Outstanding Scientist Award  

  • Prof. Dr. Soottawat Benjakul, Dept. of Food Technology, Prince of Songkhla  University

2011 Young Scientist Award  

  • Dr. Pithi Chanvorachote, Dept. of Pharmacology and Physiology, Chulalongkorn University
  • Dr. Yongyuth Laosiritaworn, S&T Research Institute,  Chiang Mai University
  • Dr. Yuttanant Boonyongmaneerat, Metallurgy and Materials Science Research Institute. Chulalongkorn University
  • Dr. Kajornsak Faungnawakij, Nanomaterials for Energy and Catalysis Lab, National Nanotechnology Center

 Minister Prodprasob also took this opportunity to present gifts and token of appreciation to awardees and organizer.
