Micro-Nano 2011 Photo Contest

“From research to visual art”

 

Background:

 

Modern research labs of today can produce brilliant micrograph image(s) using Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) many of which are in nano scale.

 

In recognition of this capability both from human and machine aspects, we are seeking the best micrograph image(s) illustrating the research project. The winners of the best micrograph image(s) will receive cash prize awards and certificate of recognitions at the Annual S&T Week in August 15, 2011 at BITEC, Bang Na.

 

Objective:

 

  • Promoting awareness to nanotechnology
  • Capturing the essence of the research project
  • Creating a venue for researchers to network and exchange knowledge

2. Term 

  • Submission (by mail or in person) no later than August 2, 2011 (mailing date or in person)
  • Judging will take place on August 5 2011
  • Announcement of winner(s) will be on August 5, 2011
  • Award Ceremony will take place August 15 (10:00 – 12:00 at BITEC, Bang Na)

3. Eligibility

·        Researchers and technicians who are at least eighteen (18) years old

·        NANOTEC employees and NANOTEC researchers are NOT eligible to participate.

4. How to Enter:

 

Each entry must comply with the following requirements:

  • Each entrant can submit more than one micrograph image(s)
  • Applicant must be a researcher or a technician
  • Micrograph image(s) must be accompanied by a short description outlining the story behind the micrograph image(s)(in Thai).
  • Micrograph image(s) must be framed and at least 12″ wide x 18″ tall
  • Entrant must own all rights and permissions associated with the submitted micrograph image(s)
  • Minor adjustment to enhance the quality of the micrograph image(s) is permissible. Nevertheless, major image modification, i.e. cut and paste, is unacceptable.
  • Include the entrant contact information.

No micrograph image(s) received will be returned.

 

5. Publicity:

 

All entrants are required to consent to the use of his/her micrographs image(s) for publicity purposes in any media without compensation or notification.

 

6. Contest Prizes

The following prizes will be awarded:

 

ONE (1) 1st PRIZE: Baht 25,000 cash prize

 ONE (1) 2nd PRIZE:  Baht 15,000 cash prize

 TWO (2) 3rd PRIZE: Baht 5,000 cash (each)

 

All entrants will receive a Recognition of Participation Certificates from the organizers.

Prizes are non-transferable

 

7. Winner Determination

  

Judging Phase: During the Judging Phase, 3 qualified judges determined by the organizer in its sole discretion will select the top entrants.

8. Winner Requirements

 

All winners will be announced and notified on the web by August 5, 2011.

All winners will be required to give a short presentation on their image on August 15 during the Annual S&T Week at BITEC, Bang Na.
