Speaking to a group of researchers at NANOTEC, Thailand Science Park, Prof. Hidehiro Sakurai said “buckybowls are of importance not only as a model compounds of fullerness but also as their own chemical and physical properties”. Prof. Sakurai went on to say that “some buckybowls are conceivable to possess the bowl-chirality if the racemization process is slow enough to be isolated”.

Prof. Sakurai from the Institute for Moelcular Science, Japan was recently in town attending a research meeting when NANOTEC made the approach to invite him to be a NANO Talk speaker. Prof. Sakurai talk was on “Chemistry of Buckbowls, Bowl-shaped Aromatic Compunds”.
