NANOTEC organized a special talk to promote low CO₂ emission.

On 20 December 2022, NANOTEC, NANOTEC in collaboration with Nanotechnology Association of Thailand co-organized the NANOTEC 20th Anniversary Special Talk Series 1: “Sustainable Composite Materials” at Sirindhorn Science Home, Pathum Thani, Thailand. This is the first activity to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of NANOTEC. It is an honor to have Prof. Larry Lessard, Adjunct & Emeritus Professors, Mechanical Engineering, McGill University, CANADA as the guest speaker. At the age of 62, Prof. Lessard has created the Bike62 Project, a low CO₂ emission journey combining Cycling. He will bike around the World for 400 days to give a talk at universities and research institutes with a mission to promote ways to rethink, reuse, and recycle materials. Not only the bike62 cycling and recycling project he shared but also endangered wood species, plastic/fiber composites, wind turbine waste, which all are related to promote saving the planet.

Apart from the talk of Prof. Larry, Dr. Varol Intasanta, Director of Nanohybrids and Coating Research Group, gave a talk on “Driving Circular Economy with Nano-enabled Circular Materials: Specialty Degradable and Multiple-use Nondegradable” and Dr. Sanchai Kuboon, a researcher from Catalyst Research Team, Nanocatalysis and Molecular Simulation Research Group, gave a talk on Carbon Capture Utilization (CCU) Technology. At NANOTEC, we focus on the research that could give a great impact to Thailand in both economic and social aspects. We apply nanotechnology R&D to raise quality of Thai people’s life as well as create industry and agriculture-based innovations.

Special thanks to Nanotechnology Association of Thailand, Resources Management for Sustainability (3R) Foundation and Water and Environment Institute for Sustainability, The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) for sponsor this activity.
