NANOTEC: “Getting our acts together”

NANOTEC: “Getting our acts together”

“Our goal in the next 5 years is to increase economic and social impacts from research output” said Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Executive Director of NANOTEC during a two-day NANOTEC Get-Together in Cha Am on Feb 3-4. “We must work hard to identify and implement R&D activities that will attract industrial applications resulting in the ability to acquire industrial funds for at least 20% of expenses per year. In order to achieve this goal, we need to focus on R&D projects that will create economical and social impacts that will benefit the country as a whole. It is a challenge but if we approach this task as a united team, anything is possible”.

The long awaited NANOTEC Get-Together was delayed from last November 2011 due to the mega flooding. The objective of the event is to discuss and understand NANOTEC 5 years plan and its relationship to the 2012 Basic Score Card (BSC) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI). The organizer also used this opportunity to let participants in on Team Building activities which focuses on team work, trust, and communication.

NANOTEC staff can now reflect on this experience as they complete their Individual Action and Development Plan (IADP) which is due end of February.

NANOTEC will also take this message on the road when they participate at nanotech 2012 in Tokyo Big Sight, Japan during Feb 15-17.
