The Collaboration on CO2 Reduction and Bio-oil Deoxygenation between THAILAND and FRANCE

On 27 October 2023 at NANOTEC, Thailand Science Park, Dr. Pongtanawat Khemthong, Principal Researcher and a group of NANOTEC Researchers from Catalyst Research Team, Nanocatalysis and Molecular Simulation Research Group welcomed the delegates of French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) to NANOTEC. The visitors comprise of delegates from the L’Institut de recherches sur la catalyse et l’environnement de Lyon (IRCELYON), (Dr. Christophe Geantet, Deputy Director and Dr. Mathieu S. Prévot, Researcher) and Dr. Antonio Aguilar Tapia, Beamline Scientist from the French Absorption spectroscopy beamline in Material and Environmental science (FAME), European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). In this regard, Asst. Prof. Rattabal Khunphonoi from Khon Kaen University also accompanied the group to NANOTEC.

The aim of the visit is to follow up on the progress of the project “Sustainable Development of 2D Catalysts from Biomass for CO2 Reduction and Bio-Oil Deoxygenation” which was granted by the Franco-Thai Cooperation Programme in Higher Education and Research Franco-Thai Mobility Programme (PHC SIAM) 2022-2023. This project is the collaboration between project leaders from THAILAND which are KKU and NANOTEC whereas CNRS are project leaders from FRANCE.

Apart from the visit, the delegates were invited to be the speakers at the hybrid NANOTalk series on “The success story under PHC Siam”. This event was organized with an aim to promote the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) for those interested in using the beamline synchrotron at Grenoble, France and to present information on PHC Siam scholarships and how to success in the research collaborations.
