Nanoparticle exposure can awaken dormant viruses in the lungs

Nanoparticles from combustion engines can activate viruses that are dormant in in lung tissue cells. This is the result of a study by researchers of Helmholtz Zentrum München, a partner in the German Center for Lung Research (DZL), which has now been published in the journal ‘Particle and Fibre Toxicology’. https://nano-magazine.com/news/2017/1/16/nanoparticle-exposure-can-awaken-dormant-viruses-in-the-lungs

Scientist find ways to cut nanoparticle toxicity levels

Bioengineers and biophysicists from the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, the Universite de Reims Champagne-Ardenne in France, and the University of Tubingen in Germany have discovered that the toxicity of nanoparticles depends more on their size and the extent to which their surface area is charged than on […]

Forbes: A Painless Microneedle Patch For Diagnosing Tuberculosis

Jeerapond Leelawattanachai is a young researcher at Thailand’s National National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), in a country where TB is rampant. Leelawattanachai has let me try one of these plastic microneedle bandages (without an antigen coating). I can attest to the fact that these patches are unintimidating and painless……… https://www.forbes.com/sites/christinero/2019/03/24/a-painless-microneedle-patch-for-diagnosing-tuberculosis/#7f15f2bc6349

Behavior of Silver Nanoparticles in Natural Waters
